Sound ideas for my short film POST 13

I want the sound in my short film to capture the essence of the genre. It should be twinkly and enchanting to reflect the fantasy side of my film but yet also haunting and unnerving to reflect the horror side of my piece. It also needs to be routed in classical instruments to intertwine with my ballet inspiration. I also am a musician myself and take A level Music Technology, so to me choosing good sound for my piece id very important and something I want to be proud of.


First I found this composition. It was twinkly and had bass heavy electronic sounds blended in to it. It was haunting from the vocals. This song has a good feel about it however I'm not sure if it would be the best fit. I could cut parts of it up and use them intermittently when appropriate. 


  This song is a waltz and incredibly haunting. when listening to it I felt intimidated and scared, I think this would be excellent to use when the figure is talking to the girl and enticing her in like prey.

This next song I found it very mystical and wonderful. It already feels like you're in another world as soon as you start listening to it and would be perfect for when the girl is exploring the fantasy world.

short film plan       Genres:  Horror- suspense = instant entertainment, easy to watch. However cannot be to gory or anything as I do not have accesses to SFX however I could do more research into make up effects. Action- would be hard to pull off, could contact local services to get necessary shots. Real film- inspiration for short film???

On a recent particularly rainy day me and my dad sat down and watched the 2019 horror/mystery "Midsommar".  My dad thought it was too long and too boring and that it didn't make any sense. However, I thought that it was a very clever film that normalised what was happening. Once it had finished I reflected on how the outrageous and graphic some of the scenes were, I felt as though while watching it everything is done subtly and the "anti" is slowly upped so that in real time I felt less shocked or felt that some how these steps were rational in a way.  I also really enjoyed the juxtaposition of the naturalistic imagery of flowers and fields and cliffs and stone to the violent imagery of blood and suicide and graphic death. (Levi Strauss theory of binary opposites). I loved how they kept the audience guessing and left/revealed little clues and hints along the way so that in the end it all "made sense", I liked how the end left the audience wanting

 I asked people that I know what they think of my short film: Here they are: My Nan, Jean: "It sounds very exciting to me! I love the inspiration from fairy tales and the settings idea, being an avid walker myself. I am concerned about how you will manage to get everyone to my house for some of the filming and how long that will take.
